CLAUDIA SUAREZ ALONSO
I am a sustainability-focused illustration and communication designer translating environmental systems into clear, engaging visual narratives. My work combines strategic thinking, research, and strong visual language to make complex topics accessible across print, product, and spatial formats.
From editorial design on sustainable development for young audiences to material experimentation with bioplastics and exhibition design for zero-waste initiatives, I develop communication that bridges science, policy, and public engagement.
Through systems thinking and visual storytelling, I aim to create design that not only informs but contributes to ecological and social change.
Originally from the Canary Islands, I moved abroad at 18 to pursue a career in design and sustainability. My journey first took me to the Netherlands and later to Portugal, where I continue to develop my practice.
My background is in Industrial Design Engineering and Design for Sustainability, with a strong focus on biomimicry, systems thinking, bioregional approaches, and sustainable development. These perspectives shape how I approach complex challenges and design solutions that are both regenerative and grounded in their environmental and social context.
In recent years, my work has increasingly centered on sustainability research, bioregionalism, and science communication—translating complex global issues into accessible, engaging narratives and visual experiences.
I’m passionate about using vibrant colour in my work, supporting collaborative change, and communicating ideas that inspire more sustainable ways of living.

Clear. Circular. Connected.
Above my core values are:
01
Ecological Responsibility
Design is not neutral. I prioritise environmental impact in both message and material.
02
Translating Complexity
I don’t simplify by dumbing down. I clarify without losing depth.
03
Design for Public Impact
I see design as a bridge between knowledge and people.
